Built Up in Love

Updated: Nov 4, 2020

Ephesians 4: 15-16, “Rather speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”

God doesn’t change our hearts in isolation. Life transformation centered on the Gospel happens when the Holy Spirit invades our hearts in context of our communities and relationships with one another. Through relationship we pursue greater intimacy with God as well as lives and communities that glorify Him. The WASHiriki health clubs we support create a space for the strengthening of such relationships within the Maasai communities. Every WASHiriki health club begins with prayer and a praise song to our Lord Jesus Christ. After prayer and singing, the health club lesson begins teaching knowledge regarding the importance of clean drinking water, safe toilets, and handwashing and other important community improvement topic. These WASHiriki health clubs are helping families navigate change while pursuing the Lord together.

“In their homes almost all of them now know the importance of boiling water. No one drinks the water from the dam, borehole, or any source of water without boiling now. This is so good because there before the ladies said people were complaining about diarrhea but now it has reduced completely…Most of the people are now able to take care of their water and also everybody is admiring to have their own water filter” shares Eunice, Africa Hope Staff.

Praise the Lord, He has also provided the means for household water filter ownership. Thanks to the generous support of many donors, 160 of these filters were delivered to eager Maasai families in early September, bringing the total to more than 200 household water filters placed at subsidized pricing to Maasai families.

“We visited the community today and the response was massive…thanks for all the efforts. Everyone was all smiles as they received their filters”, shared Jeremiah, Aqua Clara Kenya Staff.

When purchasing these filters, families are also trained in filter upkeep. Long term relationship with Africa Hope and Aqua Clara Kenya provide the means for extended support in filter use. With an estimation of 5-10 people benefitting from purified water through these people, approximately 2000 people have gained increased access to clean drinking water, about 1500 most recently.

Praise the Lord for what He has done and will continue to do! We pray that He continues to build us all up in love as He continues to transform our hearts and minds through His Word and the power of the Holy Spirit.
